Taipei and site visit

Sunday, woke up in the afternoon with nothing much to do...
Decided to get ticket for my concert with sister when she visits.
The tickets can be bought at a bookshop in town.
Chit chat with friends online and hit town for a bookshop visit.
there's 2 bookshop, the one selling the tix was boring... go in and nothing much to browse and the stupid ticketing booth don't accept cards..

so head to the other bigger one. Its huge! with a big collection of Magazines, CDs, DVDs and books...
looked around for about 2 hrs and i'm still not satisfied! will be back to browse more!

Sunny sunday noon after a rain... the weather brightens me up!

I love cities like this and a quiet non crowded street makes it better! So happy!

After browsing, decided to walk to a nearby night market for dinner...

On the way there, saw 101 beautifully lit up with gayish colour. Must take picture!

A good reason to buy a SMART. Can park vertical in half a parrallel slot! Look at how much space it saves, not forgetting the fuel it saves!

Thursday, went to Ban Qiao city's high speed railway office to do some document research...

Damn! The office is so beautiful and spacious!

Check out the view from their meeting room! This place behind me is gonna be happening within the next 10 years! Super fast bullet train, Railway and MRT will meet at the same station here. how cool! If I'm rich, I'll get a house here! The value will skyrocket! But, my colleague told me, its too late... 15 years ago maybe... now that news is out for the major station, the land price is already ridiculous here!

The station that's gonna hold all 3 rails.

A beautiful sculpture hanging above the lobby area.

And to stress the importance of this soon to be happening place, the Taipei county government office is located just across the street.

Check out the beautiful office building of Taipei county government. 33 storeys high with a viewing deck on storey 32 which welcomes visitors.

The scooters parked beside the station. Residents in this city ride their bike here every morning to take the railway to Taipei city to work. Madness number of scooter. Imagine if 1 is to catch fire!

Today, went for a site visit at Dan Shui wastewater treatment plant.

One of the 4 sedimentation tank in construction. This site is just beside the sea and the size of equipments here are humongous. Special technologies had to be used in construction and we'll be here often to monitor the building...

Soon to be Environmental Engineer Dave! I'm not from North Shore. That's a helmet loaned from our contractor.

Shitty hair after white helmet treatment. Check out the sunshine! I love the sun today. Its warm and comfortable to be outdoors today. about 25C with a slight breeze and comfortable sunshine...

He's one of the engineers from the contractor side. Looks familiar? I thought he look like Jackie Chan from certain angle. 明星脸!heh...

Nice street soccer shoes

My taiwanese roomie is just back with a new pair of Adidas Street soccer shoes.
I thought it was damn cool...
here's some pics...

This shot makes it look so normal... A plain silver white pair of adidas...

Check out its sole and heels... Got Dragon. Not bad. But we don't like the idea that it's for Beckham. Who likes Beckham?

Close up on the dragon on the heels. Not bad. Its sort of a Oriental Beckham Design...
Close up on the Sole... Another Dragon hidden underneath.
This pair of shoes look normal at first sight. But it looks better as I look at it more. What's better is that he got it for about S$85 only. Yes S$85! Freaking cheap rite?

Fishy Saturday

I've a colleague who's into fish keeping too! But he's more HARDCORE! He has plecos (sucker fish) that's worth thousands of S$! His name is hank and he's gone from an aquarium customer to become one of the 5 importers of south american catfishes into taiwan. Imagine being a regular to a well known shop to become a supplier to them! Talking to him, I feel so excited (so excited that I can feel my hair standing) yet so ashamed of my poor knowledge on fishes.

Ok, met him on Saturday noon for lunch near office. Surprise, surprise! Saturday was a nice sunny day!

"The happening, "yo yo, check it out" place of Taipei, “东区”, loosely translated into "East Zone"

Sunny saturday, going to see fish, what can I complain? So E-X-C-I-T-E-D!

Ok, the first stretch of aquarium is just a warm up. The poorest shops are like the regular fish shops in singapore, the better ones are more specialised and do up their tanks nicely. But, too bad... no pics for u as the shops here forbid photography. They've got everything we got from Arowana to LuoHan to cichlids to guppies to fighting fish to reptiles to squirrels.

After an hour of walking around, Hank said these are just the boring shop. And he brought me to THE shop!

Red spotted severums.

A Big Panaque! look at its head compared to a cigarette lighter!

An underbody shot of this giant.

more pics of beautiful plecos and fishes!

Big freshwater puffer

A big pleco morphing into golden colour.

a special L25 which is born with some colouring problem.

That little orangy guy in the center caught my eye!

A tank of Pseudas!

A big prehistoric looking pleco

2 big and golden Siamese Tigers

Tankfuls of babes!

These guys are digustingly HARDCORE!

Well guys, I've got more pics to share, but it's late now and uploading pics to this site isn't easy either... I'll post somewhere and add a link in future. Stay tuned!

Meaningless weekend

today is friday. everyone in office is so blardy happy cos the weekend is here! They can go home catch their sleep, meet their friends, family dinner, family outings, do nothing.

to me, I feel neutral + a bit sad.

At first when I came, still ok, got alot of place to go, alot of energy to play. although now, still got alot of place left uncovered in taipei. but I'm too lethargic to go and wanna save up my pathetic allowance and sort of sian of going out with the same people (not saying they're lousy, I'm the lousy one! But, I just need variety la!).

Whenever I think of the weekend now, I'll remember my singaporean life, which is to book out (from camp/ hall 15) and go home to the lovely world of my family, meet friends to watch LIVE EPL, lim kopi, eat zhi char, talk cock with kopi kia at Changi V kopitiam.

now, I don't go home, its too far and expensive. I return to my hostel. Go back surf net, chat online, watch TV and sleep. nothing exciting to look forward to.

Weekends are getting meaningless.

Maybe I'm jus too negative...
Maybe I'm just home sick.

Listening to Michel Buble's home made it worst!

To the admins of blogger

What's happening to the system? Its getting more difficult for me to upload pictures! I'm getting irritated by this picture uploading flaw!

Please! Can someone try to fix this picture uploading problem!

If I can't upload my pics, I can't blog properly. When I can't blog properly, I won't blog more. And in the end, my viewers can't read and they give up viewing! When they give up viewing, who's gonna visit us and make money for your google adsense?

I just wanna blog smoothly and easily.

Fruity tau huei...

First thing first, Can you guess what's this?

It's found in a regular, $1.99-styled stationary shop. (Answers will be annouced later)

Last friday, my colleagues ordered some strawberries from some farm and they arrived in cartons...

Was about to pop some into my mouth before my colleague warn me to wash them first before eating (dusty and maybe coated with insecticides)... While washing, I got inspired for this photo.

And Saturday is another hiking day...

scenery of 新店 from the hills... with a river for kayaking and a suspension bridge over the river.

We had fruits buffet at rest stop of the hike.

and never in my life had I ate such sweet and deep-Orange oranges. (not photoshoped! look at my hand's colour for reference)

Super sweet and juicy yellow watermelon with thin skin

This is Red capsicum, but it's juicy and refreshing, not spicy nor digusting...

A stream with tilapias and a bathing duck.

Sunday, slack in hostel the whole afternoon and out for dinner to a nearby nite market. We found out that the original 永和豆花油条大王 is near and decided to visit them for snacks.

Had 油条,豆浆,煎饼 豆沙饼

The friendly waitress in the shop...

the 煎饼 uncle doing his stuff at his counter...

Vice president, governer and celebraties were here! so do I!

nice...

and the answer for that crayon like thing...

Its a marker used to mark positions on the road during accidents! like those you seen in detective shows! Very wierd things they sell here...
