Outings over the long long weekend

The weekend that just past, quite busy...

Friday nite went supper with Andrew, BC, Dan, Gary, TL and others at Bedok 85 market. It was a short one, took us about an hour because the gang was eager to play mahjong at BC's place. These gamblers can't eat when mahjong's on their mind. But, Gary and me whom were not interested in mahjong were happy eating. We finished $4 worth of boiled cockles and I down 4 "soup rounds" aka dumplings - 2 black sesame & 2 peanuts. Feels good!
After supper, drove Gary to an aquarium in Joo Chiat to view some new pleco imports. At the shop, Gary spotted an Aba aba, > 1ft long at $180. He fell in love with the fish when the aquarium owner showed him how the Aba aba ate small feeder fishes alive. I couldn't keep my eyes off the Royal Panaques and brought home a L190 Royal Panaque. It got a big head and red eyes, damn cool! I love it when it hides under its wooden shelter and peek at you, when you stare back at it, it will just look away and "act cool" lol! This guy's just cute! After fish buying, went back tampines for more food, had Roti pratas and a good chat with Gary.

Saturday, met up with my polymates Kayboon & Desmond for dinner and FA cup. Dinner was simple macdonalds @ Suntec. After dinner, Desmond told us his rendevous in Indonesia. Desmond's a lucky man! But, I'm not gonna share drinks with him anymore! Eee!
We later headed to Zee10 at Milenia Walk for a drink and to watch FA Cup "live". Met Spencer there and he sat down and joined us for beer and FA Cup. The "live" match was quite exciting until Rio Ferdinand scored an "offside" goal. Because, there was another crowd watching the same match across the road. This crowd apparently got a telecast which is 20 seconds faster than us. So, before Rio scored, we already heard cheers across the road, while, the ball was still with Paul Scholes on our giant screen. In the end, the match was no longer exciting, as any near chances were screamed at us across the road before we even watch it on TV. Anyway, the match ended 0-0, Man Utd got more chances, but they just can't score. Arsenal won the FA Cup on penalties.

Sunday afternoon was spent at Cineleisure. Gary, Richard, KaBoon, Gigi, Diana, me and others were involved in an NK* event. It was the Madagascar Premiere and NK* was holding it in appreciation of their donars and supporters. We were involved in entertaining the kids and teenager donars. They are the Elite Lifesavers! We acted as Zoo Keepers and assistants looking for lost animals and played games with the young audience. We gave out gifts and bookmarks for the games, and the crowd was overjoyed!
And we met the NK* communications department ladies. They are all very well dressed and Gary and I were drooling. These girls sure know how to communicate!

Monday's Grandma's birthday, went hougang with mom, bro and sis and the giant durian cake. Grandma was really happy and she actually proudly declared "Its my birthday and the family's together to celebrate for me." Mom was overjoyed when she heard these words from grandma. Ever since falling down years ago, Grandma had been having problems with speech and movements. These words are rare from Grandma and they were really the highlight of the day. Happy Birthday Grandma!

-The long weekend had ended for the rest of Singapore, but not for the fortunate unemployed undergrads who are enjoying their vacations.-

Tuesday, we planned to shop at Bugis, but ended up having lunch at Marche, Suntec. It was a late lunch and we filled the table with food. Rosti, Pizza, Mushroom soup, Fried Calamari, "Roti Prata with banana and ice cream". Almost had beer, but our heavy stomach stopped us. A weekday late lunch at Marche is nice, there's not many customers other than us and a few tourist. The place was quiet and food was served promptly. So different from the crowded, noisy and rowdy weekend lunch. Today, We get to choose our seats, eat at our own pace and chatted at our comfortable volume.
After lunch, walked to the cinema, hoping to find a show. The cinema's a pathetic place for non star wars fan this week. There's only 3 shows at EngWah Suntec - Star Wars, Kingdom Of Heaven and another horror flick. No show, so we shopped around in Suntec and our window shopping just continued to CityLink to Plaza Singapure to Heeren to Cineleisure to Wisma and we ended up at Coffee Bean, Ngee Ann City, to rest our feet. Ended the outing after the drinks.
This week's movie schdule had been owned by starwars. GV @ Plaza Singapure only got 4 shows on tuesday, the 3 at EngWah and "The Jacket". Cineleisure got more shows but more than half of their screenings were dedicated to Starwars. The other non StarWars show that interest us -My Boyfriend is B type - was sold out for the day.
