Meeting the Dean of Civil Engineering, Taiwan Uni, for lunch today. Visited the departmental office and ate "lunch boxes" (disappointed, cos expect something better). Lunch as normal, greetings, welcome, Q&A and bye bye...
After lunch, took the MRT to a station nearby to buy some Taiwanese Dollar and rush back to campus in a cab to open a bank account. Met a friendly bank staff there whom was very (very X 1000) chatty... talk alot and alot... relate to us her Singapore trip. She spent a few hundred booking a cab in singapore to take her around for a day. Then spent alot eating at Boat Quay. Haiz... she kena chopped carrot head la...
After banking, carry on to find prepaid mobile phone cards. found one shop, but they only got 1 card left, so, we decided to come back tomorrow for all 4 cards together.
Today is the 13th day of the 1st month in lunar calendar. "元宵节" is near and there's a latern festival celebrations at "中正纪念堂". Board the MRT there. As we step out of the MRT, we were greeted by the massive lights deplay and the very lively crowd. Families walking around happily taking photos and kids running around merry making. The whole place is in a very festive mood and everything just feels so "元宵节". The mood is so comfortable and touching which makes your hairs stand on its ends. Our Chingay and River Hong Bao is really nothing compared to this. I guess maybe the weather helps too, its cooling (around 20C??) and the whole venue is so grand and spacious and there's no commercial activities, no pasar malam, no touting and shouting, no noisy screams from theme parks. Just simple heartwarming and festive.
Exit the park and we're at a street filled with bridal studios. The whole street is so long and there's at least 30 bridal studios side by side... Every studio looks so professional and artsy fartsy. You can feel the competitions by seeing how each studio tries to stand out by displaying their best gowns and photo albums. Impressive!
